El Medano is a settlement on the very sunny south coast of Tenerife, part of the district of Granadilla de Abona. The place is known as a surfer's paradise, since winds blow consistently appropriate, and so here traditionally competitions are held in this sport. The beautiful mountains in the Teide National Park are reached by Granadilla de Abona and the mountain village Vilaflor. Furthermore, El Medano is connected over short distances via the Southern Motorway with the other coastal towns in the south, such as Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos with the ferry harbour, the golf courses of Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf and the south airport Reina Sofía, and due to El Medano’s location east of the airport also the capital of the Island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is not far.
